Source Citation Report

  The Source Citation report screen is reached by choosing Other Reports from the Reports tab of the Ribbon bar and then choosing Source Citations from the dropdown menu.

The Source Citation report displays each master source, followed by the individuals and marriages that have cited them.  You can print all master sources or just those that are tagged or untagged.

Following is a description of each report option:

Include Tab
Sources to Print
You can choose to print All Sources in the Master Source List, or Only Tagged Sources, or Only Untagged Sources.  (Sources can be tagged and untagged from the Master Source List.  This can be displayed by selecting Master Lists from the View tab on the Ribbon bar and then choosing Sources.  See Master Source List for more information.)

What to Print
  • Master Sources and All Citations to Each One-Displays the individuals and marriages that cite each master source.  You can also choose to include each specific event citing the source along with including the citation detail information and surety level.
  • Master Sources and Citation Summary Counts-Displays how many times each master source was cited.
  • Only the Master Sources-Lists each master source without any individual citations.
  • Exclude Living Individuals-Omits source information for individuals who are marked as Living.
  • Print [[Private]] text-Prints the portions of the notes and other fields that have been marked as private by enclosing them in double square brackets. [[ and ]].  When including private notes you can also choose to have the brackets removed.

    Options Tab
  • Dividing Lines-Prints a horizontal line on the report between each source.
  • Include Shaded Title Box-Shades the box behind the source names making the report more readable.
  • Include RIN Numbers-Prints the Record ID numbers at the end of each name and marriage.
  • Include Source Text-Prints the source text field of each source.
  • Include Source Comments-Prints the comment field.

    Include Detail Source File ID Number-Includes the file ID number on the report.

    Print Format
  • List Style Format includes each source element in a vertical format.  
  • Printed Style Format builds a source paragraph as it would appear on a report.
  • Compress the line spacing removes all extra white space so that the report prints on fewer pages.

    Title-You can customize the report title if you would like to.

    Page Setup
    Lets you change the page margins, paper size, orientation and other page related settings.

    You can specify the fonts you want to use when printing the different sections of the report.  

    Where to Send the Report
    The report can be output to two formats.  Make your choice by clicking on the appropriate option button in the lower right.  The choices are:
  • Screen / Printer - Sends the report to either the Print Preview window or directly to your printer depending on whether you click the Preview or Print button.
  • PDF File - Generates the report, displays it in the Print Preview window and then creates an Adobe PDF (Portable Document File) file.  This file can be viewed with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader and easily sent to other people by e-mail.  (This feature is part of the Deluxe Edition only.)

    Note:  The report settings for the Source Citations report are saved in a file called Source.usr in the [My Documents]\Legacy Family Tree\_AppData\Usr\ folder.
