IntelliShare Log File
As the IntelliShare option combines identical individuals, Legacy also looks at all the surrounding people who are linked to them. If any differences are found, they are reported to you on the merge screen. These differences include:
Variations in the parents of the two individuals - If the parents don't have the same IntelliShare number, it means that some kind of change has been made to them by someone in the group. Either new parents have been added or the parents have been replaced by different parents. Look at the Family tab to see the differences in the parent links.
Variations in the Spouses of the two individuals - If someone in the group has added additional husbands or wives to an individual, or has deleted or unlinked a spouse or has rearranged the order of the spouse list, Legacy will alert the Keeper of this situation. Look at the Family tab to see what changes have been made.
Variations in the Children of the two individuals - Legacy checks all the children of both persons. If any children have been added or deleted or rearranged, Legacy reports the facts. Look at the Family tab to see what differences there are between the children of the two individuals.
All the differences that Legacy notices and reports to you are also placed in a text file called MERGE.LOG. At the end of the merge process, Legacy offers to display this file for you to look at. While viewing the file, you can print a copy by selecting Print from the System menu.
Also, at the end of the process, Legacy checks to see if any new individual have been added to the file. These would be persons added by the Keeper or other people in the group. A list of these individuals is added to the end of the MERGE.LOG file.
