View Tab on the Ribbon Bar


Below is a description of all the groups and tools on the View tab of the Ribbon Bar:



Main Lists Group
Name List
Opens the Name List containing the names of all the individuals in your family file.

Marriage List
Opens the Marriage List containing all the couple in your family file.


Master Lists Group
Master Lists
Opens a submenu where you can view any of the many master lists that Legacy maintains:

Other Lists Group
Spouse List
Of Husband - Opens the Spouse List for the current husband.  If the male individual has no spouses, the Add screen is opened where you can add a new wife or link to an existing female in the family file.
Of Wife - Opens the Spouse List for the current wife.  If the female individual has no spouses, the Add screen is opened where you can add a new husband or link to an existing male in the family file.


Children List... 
Opens the Children List for the current couple where you can change the order of the children, set the Status of each child, and the Relationship of each child to the father and mother.  You can also set privacy flags for the relationship information.

Parents List 
Of Husband - Opens the Parents List for the current husband where you can change the order of the parents, set the Status of the current husband to the parents, and the Relationship of the current husband to the father and mother.  You can also set privacy flags for the relationship information.

Of Wife - Opens the Parents List for the current wife where you can change the order of the parents, set the Status of the current wife to the parents, and the Relationship of the current wife to the father and mother.  You can also set privacy flags for the relationship information.

Siblings List 
Of Husband - Opens the Siblings List for the current husband (male).
Of Wife - Opens the Siblings List for the current wife (female).

To-Do List 
All To-Dos - Opens the To-Do List showing all the General to-do items.
Of Husband - Opens the To-Do List showing all the individual to-do items for the current husband.
Of Wife - Opens the To-Do List showing all the individual to-do items for the current wife.

History List 
Opens the History List showing up to the last 200 individuals you have viewed.

Timelines 
Opens the Timelines List showing all the available timelines that can be used for reports and the Chronology View.

Trees 
Opens the Tree Finder window showing all the trees that were found in your family file.

Other Group
Go To
Individual - Prompts you for the RIN number of the individual you want to jump to and display on the screen.  If you don't know the RIN of the person, use the Name List or the Index View to search for the person.
Marriage - Prompts you for the MRIN of the marriage (or partnership) you want to display on the screen.  If you don't know the MRIN of the couple, use the Marriage List to find them.
Relationship Starting Person - Jumps you to the starting person (Self) in your family file.  If you have not yet Set Relationships in your file, a message is displayed informing you of this and asking if you would like to do so now.
Preferred Startup Family - Jumps you to the family you have set as the preferred startup family in your file.  If you have not yet selected a startup family, you can do so by first navigating to the family you want and then choosing Set Startup Family from the Options tab of the Ribbon bar.

Ages 
Opens the Ages screen showing the vital information for the current couple and how old they were at each event.

Focus Group
Opens the Focus Group screen where you can see the current focus group, if you have defined one, or where you can define a new group or load a saved group.

Split Screen
Opens another copy of the current family file, displaying it side-by-side on the screen.  In anticipation of you wanting to view two different family files instead, a question box appears asking if you would like to open a different family file.  Answering Yes prompts you for the name of the other file to open.

Calendar
Opens the Calendar window where you can view calendar of any date and do date calculations using the Date Calculator.

Scrapbook
Opens the Picture Scrapbook screen where you can create a scrapbook report from all the pictures you have linked to the people in your family file.

Tips Window
Opens the Tips window where you can read some or all of the tips that Legacy shows you when it starts up each time (unless you have turned it off).


Exit Group
Exit Legacy
Closes the any family files you have open and then exits and closes Legacy.  If you are using the reminder option to make a backup of your family file(s) when exiting the program, you will be prompted to do so.  See Backup a Family File.
