The Ribbon Bar

The Ribbon is designed to help you quickly find the commands that you need to complete a task. Commands are organized in logical groups, which are collected together under tabs. Each tab relates to a type of activity, such as chart appearance or publishing.
How it Works
Quick Overview
Selecting a Tab
Clicking on a tab heading (File, Edit, Add, View, Report, Tools, Search, Internet, My Toolbar, Options, or Help) displays the gallery of options for that tab. To select an option, click on it. For example, clicking the Help tab changes the Ribbon to:

Minimizing and Maximizing the Ribbon
Minimizing the Ribbon
To minimize the Ribbon, click on the minimize button
in the upper right corner of the ribbon. (You can also right-click on any option on it and then choose Minimize the Ribbon).

The Ribbon remains minimized with only the tabs showing. When you click on a tab, the Ribbon temporarily opens and shows the options associated with that tab. After selecting an option, the Ribbon closes back up again, only showing the tab headings. (Another way to quickly minimize the Ribbon is to double-click the caption on any of the tabs.)
Maximizing the Ribbon
To maximize the Ribbon back to its original size, click the maximize button
in the upper-right corner of the ribbon. (You can also click Customize Quick Access Toolbar
and then click Minimize the Ribbon in the list (which will uncheck the option - which will restore the ribbon), or, double-click any tab again to restore the Ribbon.)
Ribbon Design
In the upper-right corner of the Ribbon is the Design button
. This is where you can select different styles, font sizes, and behaviors for the ribbon. Clicking on the Options button displays a popup menu containing: Styles, Font, Toolbars, and Animation.
Style: You can choose from nine different ribbon styles. These vary in color and ribbon layout. Some are patterned from Microsoft Office 2007 and other from Windows 7 and Office 2010.
Font: You can change the font size used for the Ribbon. You can also choose to have the ribbon button icons automatically resized as you increase or decrease the font size. (The actual font sizes used for the differents options depends on your Windows user-interface settings. Sometimes System Default, Normal, and Large result in the same font size being used. Extra Large will be a larger size.)
Toolbars: You can customize the tools on the Quick Access Toolbar, the My Toolbar tab, and the Husb/Wife Toolbars under the Husband and Wife on the Family View.
Animation: This turns on and off the highlighting display as the mouse cursor hovers over each ribbon tab and button. Select the look you prefer.
