Family Tree Picture Report (Deluxe Edition only)


The Family Tree Picture Report (which is only available in the Deluxe Edition of Legacy) is reached by choosing Other Reports from the Reports tab of the Ribbon bar and then choosing Family Picture Tree from the dropdown list.

This report produces a one- to four-generation picture pedigree chart superimposed on an optional background picture.

The following options are available:

Include Tab
Report Title
The default title is Family Picture Tree for [Name].  [Name] is replaced by the starting person's name. If you would like something different, you can edit the title. You can embed replaceable fields within the title text. (See Report Title Options for more information.) 
  
Names
Wrap wide names
Prints long names on multiple lines.
    
Make all pictures the same size
Prints all pictures same height even if some of the names wrap around to additional lines.
    
Shorten wide names by using initials
Shortens the names in the given names to their initials in order to shorten the name enough to fit on one line. Benjamin Franklin Brown would appear as Benjamin F Brown or B F Brown.
 
Remove Quoted Names
Excludes quoted names from the given names. William "Bill" Martin appears as William Martin.
  
Caption
Include life years
Adds the life span years of each individual under their pictures. For example: (1912-1963).

Suppress for Living
Omits the life span years for persons marked as Living.
       
Design Tab
Borders
Prints a border line around each picture.  You can choose from several different border styles and colors.
  
Shadow
Adds a shadow behind each picture box. You can also select a shadow color.
  
Box Background Color
Selects the picture box background color.
  
Text Color
Sets the picture caption text color.
   
Layout Tab
Generations
Choose from one to four generations.  The picture size and layout will be adjusted accordingly.

Horizontal Spacing
Adjusts the horizontal spacing of pictures to Tight, Normal, or Loose.
  
Vertical Spacing
Adjusts the vertical spacing of pictures to Tight, Normal, or Loose.
   
Picture Box Width
Adjusts the relative picture box width to Narrow, Normal, or Wide.
  
Picture Box Height
Adjusts the relative picture box height to Short, Normal, or Tall.

Background Picture Tab
Print a Background Picture
Includes a background picture.  Several pictures are included with Legacy, or you can select any other picture you might have by clicking Choose.

Page Setup
Click the Page Setup button to change page margins, print orientation, line spacing, paper size, border lines, heading and page numbering options, and footer options.  See Page Setup for more information.

Printer Setup
Lets you change the page size before generating the report.  You can also change the target printer and its specific settings.

Change Fonts
Click the Change Fonts button to select a different font or font size for the report.  See Report Fonts for more information.

Where to Send the Report
The report can be output to two formats.  Make your choice by clicking on the appropriate option button in the lower right.  The choices are:

Screen / Printer - Sends the report to either the Print Preview window or directly to your printer depending on whether you click the Preview or Print button.

PDF File - Generates the report, displays it in the Print Preview window and then creates an Adobe PDF (Portable Document File) file.  This file can be viewed with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader and easily sent to other people by e-mail.  (This feature is part of the Deluxe Edition only.)

When you are ready to print, click either the Preview or Print button.

Save and Load
You can save and reload any set of Family Tree Picture Report settings using the Save and Load buttons.

Note:  The report settings for the Family Tree Picture report are saved in a file called PicTree.usr in the [My Documents]\Legacy Family Tree\_AppData\Usr\ folder.
