Hashtags in Legacy

Hashtags are a way to create groups of people with some kind of common connection.  They can be thought of as keywords or areas of interest.  If you have ever been on Twitter you are probably familiar with hashtags used to tie together conversations on a common topic.

In Legacy you can create and attach as many hashtags as you want to any individuals.  These can then be used to generate groups of people who have a common hashtag.  For example, you might create a hashtag of FamilyReunion and attach it to all the people you want to invite to the next family reunion.  Or ResearchSLC2016 for all the individuals in your family file for whom you want to do research when you go to the Family History Library this year.

Hashtags can be used when printing reports or pictures or when exporting people in a GEDCOM file.

Legacy has always had nine regular Tag numbers that could be used to group people.  Hashtags are an extension of the tagging feature.  Now you can create as many as you want and each one has a name making them much easier to understand.
