Descendant View (Deluxe Edition  only)


The Descendant View displays the current person and all his or her descendants in chart form for a given number of generations.  Each name is color-coded to show gender and many columns of information can be selected to include in the table.  If you have set the ancestor colors, the backgrounds for the individuals who are ancestors will be color-coded with the appropriate line colors.


The Descendant View is displayed by clicking on the Descendant tab on the main view.

Navigating the Descendant View
By default, the Descendant View shows up to 10 generations of descendant for the starting person shown at the top of the chart.

If you double-click on any person in the list, that person becomes the main person and is moved to the top and the chart is regenerated to show the descendant of that person.

If you right-click on any person a menu pops up allowing you to Edit the person's individual or marriage information, Add surrounding relatives (siblings, parents, spouses, and children), View lists (parents, spouses, and siblings), and add Notes, Pictures, etc.

The following options are available along the right side of the window:

Edit
Clicking the Edit button along the right side displays the current person's Information screen where you can view, edit, and add information.  (See Information Screen.)

Print
Clicking the Print button takes you to the Descendant Tab on the Report Menu where you can then print a Descendant Chart for the main person.

Options
Clicking on the Options button pops up a submenu where you can:

Customize Display--Select display options for the descendant chart. (See Customize Descendant Display for more information.)

Customize Columns--Choose the columns of information to display with each name.  (See Customize Descendant and Index View Columns for more information.)  

Zoom--Choose the text size for the descendant chart.

Go To Father
Jumps up in the descendant list to the father of the highlighted person.  If the highlighted person is a spouse and his or her father is not in the current list, the list is regenerated with the father as the starting person.  If the person does not have a father in the family file, a message is shown to indicate this.

Go To Mother
Jumps up in the descendant list to the mother of the highlighted person.  If the highlighted person is a spouse and his or her mother is not in the current list, the list is regenerated with the mother as the starting person.  If the person does not have a mother in the family file, a message is shown to indicate this.

Go To Spouse
When a spouse is highlighted (a person with a leading "+", the Go To Spouse button is active.  Clicking it jumps the current line up in the list to the person's spouse.  Often, if a person was married more than once, the subsequent spouses are down lower in the Descendant List.  This button lets you jump up and see who the descendant-line spouse is.
