Custom Box Colors

When printing reports that include boxed information, you can select from four different coloring styles (or none at all):

Color all text and boxes the same
You can choose the text and box colors independently.  If you are using a dark-colored box, you should use a white or light-colored text.  To select the text color, click the Text Color button

To change the text color:
1. Click on either the Text Color button.  This brings up the Color window.
2. Click on the color you want for your text and then click the OK button.  The text in the box changes to reflect your selection.

To change the box color:
1. Click on either the Box Color button.  This brings up the Color window.
2. Click on the color you want for your text and then click the OK button.  The background box color changes to the color you selected.

You can limit the coloring of the boxes, showing only a certain tag number or only individuals with a certain hashtag - or both.  For example, if you assign a hashtag of Find a Grave to all the individuals who have a Find a Grave memorial online then it is easy to see on the chart the individuals who have this attribute.

Male / Female Colors
Uses two colors when printing reports, one for male names and the other for female names.

To change the text color:
1. Click on either the Male Text Color or Female Text Color button.  This brings up the Color window.
2. Click on the color you want for your text and then click the OK button.  The text in the box changes to reflect your selection.

To change the box color:

Group 1 or Group 2 Ancestor Colors
Legacy allows you to set up two groups of either 4 or 8 lines of ancestor colors.  These start from either the four grandparent's or the eight great-grandparent's of the starting person for each group.  Each line is assigned a different color.  (See Mary Hill Color-Coding System for more information.)  You can view the current color assignments by clicking the Edit Ancestor Colors button.

(See Set Ancestor Colors for information on how to set the color groups.)

Note:  The boxes on reports are based on how they are set in Legacy, not on the starting person for a chart.
