Calendar Creator 

  The Calendar Creator screen (which is only available in the Deluxe Edition of Legacy) can be reached by choosing Other Reports from the Report tab of the Ribbon bar and then choose Calendar Creator from the dropdown list.

Create your own calendars, complete with pictures, birthdays, and anniversaries.  There are options to include a cover picture (front and back), picture pages above each calendar month, and complete control over color, layout, shadows, fonts, page size, etc.  Create complete yearly calendars suitable for gifts.  The calendars can be blank or include the birthdates, deathdates, and anniversaries of your family file members.

The following options are available:

Include Tab

Records to Include
Only Living Individuals
Includes only people who are marked as still being alive.  (This marking is done on the Information window.)
AND Tagged Dead Individuals
This setting is in addition to the Only Living Individuals setting, and allows you to also include certain other people who are marked as Living = No but are tagged.
All Individuals, Living or Dead
Includes all individuals, whether living or dead.  If your Family File is large, this can result in large calendars.
 Only Dead Individual
Includes only people who are marked as not living. .  (This marking is done on the Information window.)
Only Tagged Living Individuals
Includes only people who are alive and who have a given tag level set.  (See Tagging Records for more information on how to use the different tag levels.)
AND for Anniversaries, both individuals must be Tagged
This setting is in addition to the Only Tagged Living Individuals setting, and allows you to limit the reported anniversaries to couple where both people are tagged.
All Tagged Individuals, Living or Dead
Includes anyone in the Family File, whether living or dead, who has a given tag level set.
Only Tagged Dead Individuals
Includes only people who are marked as dead and who have a given tag level set.
Only Individuals from the following Mailing Lists
You can choose from Newsletter, Fam. Assoc., Birthday, Research, Christmas, and Holiday lists. The mailing addresses entered for people in your file can be assigned to these mailing lists when the address is entered. See Addresses for adding and editing addresses.


Options Tab

Name Format
You can have the names on the calendar printed as either Surname, Given name(s), Given name(s) Surname, or First name Surname.  Select the appropriate option button.

Include RIN & MRIN Numbers
Check this option if you want to have the individual and marriage record ID numbers included on the calendar.

Married names for females
Uses the surnames of the husbands when printing wive's names.

Type of Calendar

Birthdays
When printing a birthday calendar, you can choose to include the birth year and age they would be at the calendar date.

Deathdays
When printing a deathday calendar, you can choose to include the death year and age at death.

Anniversaries
When printing an anniversary calendar, you can choose to include the marriage year, anniversary number, and to skip divorced couples (which also skips Separated and Annulled marriages).

Report Language
You can choose from different languages when generating the Calendar report.  To select a language, click the Report Language button and choose the language file to be used when generating the report.  There are many language files available.  To reset the language selection back to the default value, click the Reset button.

Note: All the program-produced titles and subtitles and labels and all the dates will be translated but items such as user-enter titles and location won't be translated.

Fonts Tab

You can choose the font, font size, and style for the following parts of the calendars:

Cover Title
Cover Subtitle
Month Name
Month Subtitle
Day Name
Day Number
Information
Picture Caption
Small Month Name
Small Day Name
Small Day Number

Format Tab
  • Borders-Selects the border style (if any) to be printed around each calendar and picture page.  You can select the line and background colors.

    Shadow-Prints a drop-shadow behind the border.
  • Month Name-You can choose the justification (left-, center-, or right-justified) of the month names, and the print color. Shadow behind month name-Prints a drop-shadow behind the names of the months.
  • Content Font Color-The color of the printing used for birthdate and anniversary entries. Shadow Color-The color used for all drop-shadow effects.
  • Day Name-You can choose the font color for the day names, the background color for the day name strip, whether to print a drop-shadow behind the day name strip, and whether to abbreviate the names of the days.
  • Day Box Style-You can choose to have a box printed around each day of the month or to have grid lines printed between each day.  You can also choose to have a drop-shadow printed behind each day box.  Line colors and background colors can be selected. 
  • Position of Day Numbers-The number of each day can be printed left-, center- or right-justified.  The color of the day numbers can also be selected.

    Pictures Tab
    Pictures can be printed on their own pages between each calendar page or included on each calendar page.
  • Include Picture Page-Prints pictures with the calendar pages.  You can choose to print the pictures Between Calendar Pages or On Calendar Pages.  If printing on each calendar page, you can choose to have a Dividing Line printed between the picture and the calendar.
  • Main title on cover page-The text to be included on the cover page printed before the first calendar month.
  • Subtitle-The text to be printed as a subtitle on the cover page.
  • Front Cover Picture-The name of the graphic file to be printed on the cover page.
  • Front Cover Caption-The text to be printed below the picture on the cover page.
  • Individual Month Pictures and Captions-The pictures and captions to be included before (or on) each monthly calendar from January to December.  If you want to omit a picture or caption for any particular month, just leave the appropriate fields blank.
  • Back Cover Picture and Caption-The picture and caption to be printed after the last monthly calendar.

    Note: To select a picture files, click the button and navigate to the desired file.  To clear a picture name from a month, click the C button.  To remove a caption, blank out any existing text in the field.
  • Picture Options-You can choose to print the pictures in Small, Medium, or Large size.  The size of each picture will depend on the page size and margins selected.  You can also choose to have a drop-shadow printed behind each picture rectangle.

    Months Tab
  • Print Front Cover-Prints a page (with or without a picture and caption) before printing the first monthly calendar page.
  • Months to Print-Place a check mark in the boxes for which you would like to print a calendar.  You can clear all the check marks by clicking the Clear All button.  You can select all the months by clicking Select All.
  • Print Back Cover-Prints a page (with or without a picture and caption) after the last monthly calendar page.

    Surrounding Months
  • Mini Previous Month Block-Prints a small version of the calendar month prior to the current month's calendar at the top or bottom of the current page.  This is a quick way to check dates in the previous month without having to turn the page back.
  • Mini Following Month Block-Prints a small version of the calendar month following the current month's calendar at the top or bottom of the current page.
  • Position of small calendars-Prints the small calendars at the Top of Page or Bottom of Page.  You can also choose to have a drop-shadow printed behind the small calendars.
  • Text and Background Colors-You can select the small calendars and the color of the text.
  • Subtitle under month name on each calendar page-As each monthly calendar is printed, the name of the month is printed at the top.  You can specify an additional line of text to be printed below the month names if desired.  For example, you might want to include a subtitle line of, "Birthdays and Anniversaries" or "The Anderson Family."
  • Title-If the calendar report is going to be part of a larger report, you can specify a Title line to be printed at the top of each page.  (See Publishing Center for more information about combining multiple reports into a larger book.)

    Year of Calendar
    Select the year you would like to print the calendar for.

    Page Setup
    Click the Page Setup button to change page margins, print orientation, paper size, heading and page numbering options, and footer options.  See Page Setup for more information.

    Printer Setup
    Lets you change the page size before generating the report.  You can also change the target printer and its specific settings.

    Save and Load
    You can save and reload any set of report settings using the Save and Load buttons.

    Where to Send the Report
    The report can be output to two formats.  Make your choice by clicking on the appropriate option button in the lower right.  The choices are:
  • Screen / Printer - Sends the report to either the Print Preview window or directly to your printer depending on whether you click the Preview or Print button.
  • PDF File - Generates the report, displays it in the Print Preview window and then creates an Adobe PDF (Portable Document File) file.  This file can be viewed with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader and easily sent to other people by e-mail.  (This feature is part of the Deluxe Edition only.)

    Printing
    When you have set all the options, click either the Preview button to see an on-screen view of the report before it is actually printed, or click Print to have the report sent directly to the printer.

    Note:  The report settings for the Calendar Creator report are saved in a file called Cal.usr in the [My Documents]\Legacy Family Tree\_AppData\Usr\ folder.
